This Privacy Policy explains how Grezitech Company Limited, trading as Grezitech Academy (“Grezitech Academy”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use academy.grezitech.com, enroll on our courses, apply for a scholarship or take part in our classes. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

1. Who we are

Grezitech Academy is operated by Grezitech Company Limited, which is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in this policy at [email protected] or on +234 (0) 809 999 4624.

2. The personal data we collect

  • Account and enrollment details: your name, email address, phone number, username and password (stored in encrypted form), and the courses you enroll on.
  • Payment details: when you pay, your payment is processed by Paystack. We receive confirmation of the payment, the amount and a transaction reference. We do not see or store your full card or bank account details.
  • Scholarship applications: your name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, city and state, the course you are applying for, your current status, your background and your reasons for applying.
  • Learning records: lesson progress, quiz and assignment results, attendance at live classes and certificates issued to you.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, WhatsApp, contact forms or during live classes.
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and security logs, collected automatically when you use the website.

3. How we use your personal data, and why

  • To provide your course (contract): creating your account, giving you access to lessons, running live classes, adding you to your cohort’s WhatsApp group, marking your work and issuing your certificate.
  • To process payments and installment plans (contract and legal obligation): confirming payments, managing installments and keeping financial records.
  • To assess scholarship applications (consent and legitimate interests): reviewing your application and contacting you with the outcome.
  • To verify certificates (legitimate interests): confirming to employers or other third parties that a certificate we issued is genuine, when they enter its certificate ID.
  • To communicate with you (contract and legitimate interests): sending class links, course updates and replies to your questions.
  • To keep the website secure (legitimate interests): detecting and preventing spam, fraud and unauthorised access.
  • To send marketing (consent): we only send you news about future courses if you have agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time.

4. Live classes and WhatsApp groups

Live classes take place on Google Meet. Other participants in a class can see the name you join with and, if you turn them on, your camera and microphone. We will tell you in advance if a class is being recorded.

Each cohort has a WhatsApp group for questions and group assignments. When you join, your phone number, name and profile picture are visible to other members of the group. If you would prefer not to join the group, tell us and we will share important updates with you another way.

5. Who we share your personal data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the academy, and only as needed:

  • Paystack: payment processing.
  • Namecheap: website hosting.
  • Cloudflare: website security and performance.
  • Google: Google Meet for live classes, and Google services used on the website such as fonts and bot protection.
  • WhatsApp (Meta): cohort communication groups.
  • Email delivery and backup providers: sending system emails, and storing secure backups of the website.

We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our students or the public.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers, such as Google, Meta and Cloudflare, process data on servers outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards available under the NDPA, such as the provider’s contractual commitments to protect personal data.

7. How long we keep your personal data

  • Account and learning records: for as long as your account is active, and for up to 3 years after your last course so that we can verify your certificate and answer queries.
  • Certificate records: the certificate ID, your name, course and completion date are kept for as long as we offer certificate verification, so employers can confirm your certificate.
  • Payment records: for 6 years, to meet tax and accounting obligations.
  • Scholarship applications: for 12 months after a decision is made, then deleted, unless you become a student.
  • Security logs: for up to 90 days.

8. How we protect your personal data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), a web application firewall, restricted administrator access, strong authentication and regular backups. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission where required if a breach affects you.

9. Your rights

Under the NDPA, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • ask us to delete your data, where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your data;
  • receive your data in a commonly used format, or have it sent to another organization;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent; and
  • complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in, remember your cart and protect the website against abuse. We do not use advertising cookies.

11. Children

Our courses are intended for adults. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s consent to create an account or enroll.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we will let enrolled students know by email.
